Jennifer Copley

Jennifer Copley lives in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, with her cat, dog, and sculptor husband Martin. She is the author of 3 full collections of poetry: Unsafe Monuments (Arrowhead, 2006), Beans in Snow (Smokestack, 2009) and Sisters (Smokestack, 2013.) She has had several pamphlets published: the latest, Being Haunted, won the Cinnamon Pamphlet Prize in 2018. Her work has appeared in The Rialto, The North, PN Review, The Independent on Sunday, the Forward Prize Anthology and GCSE Poetry Unseen revision papers. She has won prizes in several poetry competitions including 1st prize in the Faber/Ottaker, 1st in the Mirehouse, 2nd prize in the Cardiff Academi, 3rd prize in the Bridport, and has been shortlisted twice for the Strokestown Poetry Prize. In 2005 she was South Cumbria Poet Laureate. What Happens to Girls is her most daring and vibrant collection yet.
